Recently there seem to be a trend in Khmer teens as they're very keen on using big bikes and we can't help but notice that there are a number of big bike cliques forming. What about readers, have you ever heard about such cliques?
According to Pang Young Tarmpol, 28, a member of Khmer Sport Bike (KSB), “Nowadays there are no less than 1000 big bikes running around Phnom Penh in my estimation, and most of them have high engine power of at least 600cc.” In public eyes, they still view teens with big bikes as rude, dangerous, gangsters who skip schools, but in reality they are not like that.
Answering toward that claim, Tarmpol said, “I'm not anything like that.In fact, members of KSB are businessmen, office workers and people who happen to like riding big bikes. Besides, our groups have also participated for many social cause and charity such as Fund Raising for Kunthebopha Hospital to help orphans and other elementary school children in faraway provinces.” Tarmpol also said that, “The main reason we formed this group is because we all love big bikes, and we want to exchange experience and knowledge about it. Also, we want to drive them safely. So long as we have a functioning group, we have rules and regulations in driving.” “On top of that, we want to clarify that driving big bikes is a sport and many other developed countries also have these kind of cliques.” Tarmpol added
